During a seminar on the first day of university, Max was asked by a tutor, “Why do you want to study Ancient History?”
His answer was, “Mostly for the fight scenes.” It didn't go down well. Nevertheless- the eternal allure of Achilles Vs Hector, the marvel and horror that must have greeted the Visigoths at the gates of Rome, and the incredible storytelling inherent in Norse, Greek, and Roman mythology- it all inspired Max to write.
Which is to say, he'd still tell that tutor there's nothing better than age-old heroism, fantasy, history, and a damned good scrap.
Alongside writing, Max grows and sells plants. He'll chew your ear off about all things horticulture (be warned). His interests don't stop there. In what might be described as pathological hobbyism, Max (sometimes obsessively) enjoys chess, MMA, NFL, climbing, snowboarding, poker, running, (take a breath), and all things fantasy and sci-fi.
Max lives with his wife and two very happy, very loud young sons in Hertfordshire. He is currently working on a heroic-fantasy novel.
