Essie Fox

Essie Fox was born and grew up in Herefordshire. She now lives in Windsor. After studying English Literature at Sheffield University she first worked for the Telegraph Sunday Magazine, and then the book publishers, George Allen & Unwin – before moving into art and design, a career that lasted twenty years.

Always an avid reader, Essie also yearned to write. She has now published six historical novels with Orion Books, and Orenda Books. Her debut, The Somnambulist was shortlisted for the National Book Awards, and featured on Channel 4’s TV Book Club. The Fascination was an instant Sunday Times top ten bestseller. The Last Days of Leda Grey, and Dangerous were both selected as Times historical novels of the month.

As well as appearing at literary festivals and book events, Essie has written articles for the national press and magazines. She has lectured at the V&A, and the National Gallery in London.
