Kishan Devani BEM, FRSA is a Public Figure, engaged in many diverse segments of society, from Politics, Education to the Charitable Sector. Kishan was honoured by Her Majesty the Queen in Her New Years Honour's List 2020 with the BEM (British Empire Medal). Kishan was also made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2015 and was honoured with the Freedom of the City of London in 2016 - which made him one of the youngest BaME Freemans of London. Kishan is also Associate Lecturer of Politics, International Relations, Diplomacy, Advocacy & Resolution at London Metropolitan University, Lecturing BA & MA students on Geopolitics, International Relations, Politics & Diplomacy and he also delivers lectures on Advocacy and Diplomacy.
Kishan was recently appointed Vice-President of the Green Liberal Democrats, in 2018 he was appointed Vice-President of the Liberal Democrats Campaign for Race Equality (LDCRE) and was elected Vice-Chairman of Liberal Democrats in Business. Kishan was also the Liberal Democrats Parliamentary Candidate for Montgomeryshire in the 2019 General Election. Kishan was also Deputy Chairman (Membership and Finance) of the entire London Conservative Party from 2014 to 2016 and the Conservative Party Parliamentary Candidate for Leicester East in 2015. He left the Conservatives in 2017 and joined the Liberal Democrats due to the Brexit vote and what he felt was a lurch to the right by the party. Kishan was also appointed Ambassador of the REC (Religious Education Council of England and Wales). Kishan has carried out consultancy work for various Asian organisations, Forums and Societies in promoting youth engagement within politics matters of education and the youth. Kishan has had consultancy roles within various sectors from Governance to Fundraising to Education. Kishan Devani BEM, FRSA is a role model to thousands of young British Asians and BAME Communities today due to his continuous efforts of promoting community cohesion & diversity in public life within the British Asian community. Kishan is currently working on his memoir. As the son of Ugandan Asian refugees, his memoir will speak of the trials, tribulations, successes and failures of life and how grit, determination, dedication, passion and faith brought him through. The memoir will encompass pertinent topics which have a part of Kishan’s life, from politics, education to his strong Hindu faith, arranged marriages to Queen's Honours and from parental divorce to IVF - the book promises to be exhilarating, inspirational and profoundly pertinent. A book to inspire others to break through the glass ceIling, see no boundaries and continually strive to achieve regardless of your background or circumstances.
