Lucy Fulford is an Australian-British journalist and filmmaker whose work centres around migration and identity.
 
After cutting her teeth in local papers, she went on to cover breaking news and crime for the national press, from the Guardian to ITV News. She has reported from the frontlines of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, filmed in the ancient city of Petra, Jordan, and taken the Trans-Siberian Railway across three countries.
 
Growing up between cultures – born in Sydney to Indian and English parents – has led to an interest in exploring belonging. She has a BA in History from the University of Bristol, writes for NGOs including Save the Children and produces and directs narrative and documentary films.
 
She’s interested in the generational legacy of forced migration and her first non-fiction book, The Exiled, inspired by her family history, was published by Coronet in 2023. This work was long listed for Penguin Random House’s WriteNow 2020 programme, which supports underrepresented writers, and selected for HarperCollins’ inaugural Author Academy in 2021. The book was also long listed for the HWA Non-Fiction Crown Award 2024.

When not telling stories, she can usually be found traveling, trying to convince her cat to watch Arnie movies or riding her motorbike (slowly).
