Maria Laven

Maria has always loved writing and spent hours in her youth devising stories to entertain family and friends. After graduating from Queen’s University Belfast, she worked as a teacher, before realising she wanted to embrace her love of words more whole-heartedly. During a stint in Dubai, she changed careers and became a journalist, contributing to some of the Middle East’s most acclaimed publications.

Although she is Irish, Maria currently lives in Edinburgh with her Scottish husband, two daughters and a Dubai-born cat. When she isn’t juggling family life, she is writing and possibly daydreaming about Biarritz or Milan.
