S&S signs ‘original, thought-provoking’ Eva Verde novel
Simon & Schuster UK has signed Them Girls, a new novel by Eva Verde. Publishing director Clare Hey bought UK & Commonwealth rights from Abi Fellows. The book will publish in paperback, eBook and audio in spring 2026.
Them Girls follows sisters Goldie and Vee, who both appear to have it all in their forties. When Goldie suggests a holiday in France, Vee leaps at the idea. A curiously well-timed invitation - just as speculation around Goldie’s brilliantly brief pop career back in the nineties are beginning to resurface. Escaping’s one thing, but nothing stays secret forever, and as Vee and Goldie’s unresolved pasts make surprise returns, the stories them girls once told themselves begin to look very different…
Hey said: “Eva is an absolute powerhouse of a writer - original, thought-provoking, inspiring and truthful, her novels shine a light on the world as it is. Them Girls is a tour-de-force and I am thrilled to be publishing it.”
Fellows said: “Eva Verde’s writing goes from strength to strength. She has such a beautiful and compelling way of capturing the ways in which women get older and refuse to settle. I’m delighted to be working with Clare and the team at Simon & Schuster again.”
Verde said: “Them Girls follows the story of two grown sisters, trying to reconcile with their teenage pasts. Inspired by abuses of power within the music industry, societal expectations and touches of real-life experience, it’s another book straight from the heart. I’m so very happy to be continuing my writing journey with Clare and her brilliant team.”
