Jo Thomas moves to Pan Macmillan with new four-book deal
Jo Thomas has moved from Transworld to Pan Macmillan with a new four-book deal.
Publishing director Katie Loughnane acquired world English-language rights from David Headley.
Thomas’ first novel with Pan Fiction, Summer at the French Bakery, will be published in June 2026. "It is a story about rival bakeries in rural France and is full of deliciously fun conflict and a love letter to the power of community and following your dreams," the synopsis says.
Thomas said: "I’m so excited to be joining Katie and the team at Pan Macmillan, and looking forward to the hugely exciting and ambitious plans they have to share my stories and bring more people to enjoy them: like a meal out at your favourite restaurant that you look forward to, savour the flavours and leave with a big smile on your face, hoping to return to soon."
Loughnane added: "Jo’s novels offer pure, delicious escapism and will always leave you feeling two things: hungry (her food writing is exceptional) and yearning to book a train or a flight to the destination at the heart of her latest story. From the moment I met Jo, I knew her energy and ideas would be the perfect match for us at Pan Macmillan and we are thrilled to be working alongside her to deliver the growth that her brand richly deserves."
Headley said: "Jo is a wonderfully warm and evocative writer whose novels bring such joy to readers around the world. Katie’s passion and editorial vision make her the perfect partner for Jo at this stage in her career. I’m thrilled about this new chapter and confident that, together with the brilliant team at Pan Macmillan, they’ll take Jo’s books to even greater heights."
