Granta to publish Elisabeth's Lists

Picture
Granta has acquired World English Rights for Tallulah Ellender's debut novel, Elisabeth's Lists, a deeply moving family memoir, told through a series of lists.

When Tallulah inherited her grandmother's handwritten book of lists, she found two decades' worth of everyday notes: the routine 'to do's' of running a household, details of clothes to be ordered and packed for foreign trips, shopping lists for parties. From these ordinary fragments, she has pieced together an extraordinary portrait of the grandmother she never knew: an ambassador's daughter who lived in 1930s China, married a diplomat and led a glamorous nomadic existence in far-flung corners of the globe between and during the wars. But as well as the story of find her grandmother, Tallulah's debut also records the gradual loss of her mother, and explores the way we reach to lists to make sense of the chaos of our lives and, when the time comes, to "lasso our grief".

The deal was brokered between Granta Editorial Director Laura Barber and DHH's Natalie Galustian. Elisabeth's Lists will be published in Spring 2018.

Pendulum & Winter Magic published

Adam Hamdy's Pendulum and Abi Elphinstone's curated anthology, Winter Magic, were published this week and we're proud as punch to say that already the reaction has been deservedly wonderful.

Pendulum
You wake. Confused. Disorientated.
A noose is round your neck.
You are bound, standing on a chair.
All you can focus on is the man in the mask, tightening the rope.
You are about to die.

John Wallace has no idea why he has been targeted. No idea who his attacker is. No idea how he will prevent the inevitable.
Then the pendulum of fate swings in his favour.
He has one chance to escape, find the truth and halt his destruction.
The momentum is in his favour now.
But with a killer on his tail, everything can change with one swing of this deadly pendulum.
You have one chance. Run.

James Patterson has hailed it "one of the best thrillers of the year" and we just know this book is going to be huge. The screen rights have already been snapped up by NBC Universal and Hardy Son & Baker, as a joint venture between the two.

US publication of Pendulum (with Quercus) is June 6 2017.

Winter Magic
Dreamsnatcher author and DHH client, Abi Elphinstone, heads up this gorgeous collection of wintery stories, featuring snow queens, frost fairs, snow dragons and pied pipers, from classic children's writers such as Michelle Magorian, Geraldine McCaughrean, Jamila Gavin, Berlie Doherty, Katherine Woodfine, Piers Torday, Lauren St John, Amy Always, Michelle Harrison and Emma Carroll.
An unmissable, enchanting treat of a collection, that will be enjoyed for years to come, by readers of all ages.
