Delighted for client Femi Kayode, and his debut novel Lightseekers, which has been bought by Bloomsbury Raven’s Alison Hennessey, in a UK & Commonwealth deal, negotiated by Harry Illingworth. Both Polish and Italian rights were pre-empted for this book during London Book Fair, within 24 hours of submission. Lightseekers follows psychologist Philip Taiwo who is commissioned to investigate the lynching of three young students in a Nigerian university town, a brutal act caught on social media. Femi won the £3,000 Little, Brown prize in October 2018 with judges paying tribute to Lightseekers, which they described as “shocking and emotional”.
