We're kicking off this week's DHH News Roundup with the brilliant recent announcement for the Capital Crime line-up, featuring a smörgåsbord of fabulous DHH authors.

If you nab your ticket for this hotly-anticipated crime festival in September later this year, you can expect to see:

Craven, Paul Burston, Ragnar Jónasson, S. V. Leonard, Stuart Turton, Suzie Edge, Tom Hindle, Victoria Selman and Vikki Patis.

More names are due to be announced, and with the "who's who" of the literary crime world, this is not to be missed!

The paperback for Anna Jacobs' new standalone, Kirsty's Vineyard, was published last week, a beautiful and heart-warming story from the million-copy bestseller.

In the aftermath of a heart-breaking accident, Kirsty is shocked to discover that she has inherited a vineyard in Western Australia from Ed James, a lonely old man she befriended at the library. But there is a condition to his legacy: Kirsty must give up her quiet life in England and live at the vineyard for a least one year.

How will a shy librarian cope on her own in a strange country? As she is forced to take her life off hold, one thing is certain, Kirsty's life is about to change for ever.

On a beautiful summer afternoon, Stacey Sullivan is getting married to Mark James. But then screams smother the laughter, police sirens drown out the church bells. Out of nowhere, a drug-fuelled gunman opens fire on the wedding party.

The shooter is beaten, disarmed and detained by the guests. No one knows who the gunman is… or if they do, they’re not admitting it. The job of solving the two murders is laid solely at the feet of DI Charley Mann.

Could this be a random attack, or a pre-planned assassination? When information comes to light of a link to feuding drug-dealing families in Manchester, Charley’s team need to act rapidly. They need to find – and apprehend – those responsible. Fast.

It soon becomes clear: if they fail, more deaths are coming…

Another cover reveal for you, and this time for the paperback of Tom Hindle's debut novel, A Fatal Crossing (August 2022, Century):

November 1924

The Endeavour sets sail for New York, with 2,000 passengers - and a killer - on board.

When a body is found on deck, ship's officer Timothy Birch is ready to declare the death a tragic accident. But Scotland Yard inspector James Temple is certain there's more to this misfortune than meets the eye.

Mounting an investigation, the pair uncover the theft of a priceless painting, and encounter a string of suspects with secrets to hide.

Now, with just days remaining until the Endeavour reaches New York, their search for the culprit is fraught with danger.

And all the while, the passengers roam the ship with a killer in their midst...

Congratulations to Carys Jones who, it was announced last week, has had her next two gripping psychological thrillers snapped up by current publisher Orion with the first, She Had It Coming, due to be published in January 2023.

Editorial director Rhea Kurien acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to the two books from Emily Glenister at D H H Literary Agency, describing She Had It Coming as a “cracking thriller full of twists and turns”.
