Nicholas Searle

Nicholas Searle was born in Cornwall. He studied languages at Bath and Göttingen universities, and was a teacher in East Yorkshire for four years before going into government service and moving to London. He worked in the more secret reaches of the UK government for over twenty-five years and also for some years in New Zealand public service.

Returning from New Zealand, he wrote his first novel, The Good Liar, which was published in 2016 (and later became a Hollywood film starring Helen Mirren and Sir Ian McKellen). He has subsequently written two novels, A Traitor in the Family and A Fatal Game.

Nicholas Searle lives in North Yorkshire with his wife and golden retriever.
